Oak Curriculum API

About Oak's API

API limits

Rate limits

Rate limits are restrictions that our API imposes on the number of times you can access our services within a 24 hour period.

Rate limits are common practice for APIs to protect against abuse or misuse, ensure fair access to all users, and manage the aggregate load on our infrastructure.

The rate limits on our API are in the form of RPH (requests per hour, per user) and are set to 1000 as standard. If you require a temporary increase please get in touch to discuss your use case, by emailing [email protected].

Licensing

Licensing of our lesson content covers our:

  • Quizzes
  • Slide decks
  • Worksheets
  • Videos and audio content

We also have transcripts of our lesson videos and we have used a variety of digital tools within them. These tools include subtitling, captioning, sign language and other methods to assist with accessibility.

This content is classed as Open Educational Resources (OER) and is licensed on the Open Government Licence (OGL) v3.0, except where otherwise stated. This licence is compatible with the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC-BY 4.0). For more on licensing, visit our Terms and conditions.

Content availability

We are working to provide curriculum data and lesson resources for all subjects across key stages 1-4. Production is expected to finish in Autumn 2025. We will notify API keyholders via email each time new content is made available.

For more information about what is currently available, please go to the section on Content coverage.
